Provincial Government (Provincial ) Jakarta plans to build many dams in the region of the capital in an effort to overcome the problem of flooding .
" We have a new concept to reduce flooding in Jakarta , namely by building reservoirs . So , reservoirs that function sort of basin water reservoir , " said Vice Governor of Jakarta Tjahaja Basuki Purnama at City Hall , Central Jakarta , on Wednesday .
According to him, the dams were to be built in which are located in North Jakarta , is in an area of 90 acres Tunjungan time , in Pantai Indah Kapok area of 30 hectares and in the Marunda , Cilincing sub-district of 50 acres .
"In addition , there is also a green area in the region Halim and on the border between Jakarta and Tangerang . Two locations that still we examine again , we can make the reservoir or not , " said Basuki .
He was optimistic that the existence of dams in Jakarta will be able to reduce flooding , because it refers to two reservoirs that have been normalized first , namely in North Jakarta Pluit Reservoir and Reservoir Ria Rio in East Jakarta .
Before the normalization of the two reservoirs , he continued , often floods struck neighborhoods that surround the reservoirs .
" The two reservoirs were now passable reduce flood in Jakarta . Indeed still not optimal because of the new function was dredged to a depth of five meters . If dredged up to seven or ten meters , the reservoir capacity that could definitely be a lot , " said Basuki .
Not only build reservoirs , the city government also plans to build a water culvert that extends from Casablanca region to East Flood Canal ( KBT ) .
" We channeled directly into HPCs because it is still too new and way better inspection . Besides that , the water culvert also has a large enough capacity , ie up to 200 cubic feet per second , " said Basuki .
