Somali Shebab al - Qaeda did not ban the Internet because according to Islamic law

Al -Qaida insurgents Shebab Wednesday banned all residents in areas of Somalia to use the Internet .

They gave all communications firm ultimatum of 15 days to the web service to stop their activities , AFP reported .

" Any company or individual who is found to ignore these voices will be considered to be working with the enemy and they will be handled in accordance with Sharia , or Islamic law , " said a statement posted on a pro - Shabaab website added .

The law imposes strict guerrillas in zones under their control and often arrested people suspected of being " spies" .

Internet is now widely used in Somalia , the civil war for more than two decades , the Shebab regarded as the greatest obstacle to peace .

Shebab once controlled large parts of southern and central Somalia , but later resigned from permanent positions in Mogadishu two years ago .

African Union troops - including a large contingent from Uganda , Kenya and Burundi - have recaptured the rebel forts and a series trying to prop up the fledgling government forces in Somalia .

But a series of attacks that destroyed several Shebab foreign targets and the government has destroyed the hope of rebirth of the war-torn capital city and also showed that disruption of insurgent dwindle .
