The White House asked for the violence in Ukraine stopped

The White House on Sunday , calling for violence in Ukraine between security forces and protesters stopped immediately , and expressed the possibility to impose sanctions .

Dozens of people were injured in bloody clashes in the capital amid the standoff between the President of Ukraine , Viktor Yanukovych , the opposition , which lasted nearly two months .

" We are very concerned about the violence today in the streets of Kiev and urged all parties to immediately lower atmosphere , " said a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council , Caitlin Hayden .

The latest violence came as nearly 200,000 people opposing tight restrictions on protests against Yanukovych .

" We urge the Ukrainian authorities to take steps better for Ukraine , including the repeal of anti - democratic rule that was passed into law recently , exciting riot police from the city center of Kiev and start a political dialogue with opposition , " Hayden said .

" From day one , the movement of the Maidan has been established by the spirit of non-violence and we support the call pemipin political opposition to re-establish the principle . "

Hayden said the United States will continue to consider additional measures - including sanctions - respond to the use of violence .
