Interior Minister: Armed men seized a police department in eastern Ukraine

The gunmen have taken control of a police department in the city Slaviansk eastern Ukraine, said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov Saturday, the last public building that was taken over in the east at the time of the pro-Russian protesters face to face with Kiev.

"The gunmen seized the camouflage uniforms of the police department in Slaviansk. Answer will be very hard because there is a difference between protesters and terrorists," Avakov wrote on his Facebook page.

A local police spokesman told Reuters the men did not file any charges and also did not reveal any details about their identity.

Slaviansk are in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, about 150 km from the border with Russia.

In eastern Ukraine, government buildings in the city of Donetsk and Luhansk has been occupied by pro-Russian demonstrators who want them separated from the Kiev region.

On Friday, the deadline set for the ruler of Kiev protesters to end their occupation ended, but there was no sign of action from the Ukrainian police to force them out.

"I will say once again: those who want to dialogue ... will get and look for solutions. Those who took up arms, burning buildings, shooting people, police, terrorize with batons and masks, these people will get a reply in kind," Avakov said in a posting on Facebook.
