Surabaya City Government Hold Netherlands Overcome Flood and Water Problems
The issue of flooding is still a classic problem every big city like Surabaya , particularly in terms of water management of the river and clean water for the community .
To overcome the problems of flood and water management in the city of Surabaya , the capital of East Java government was seeking cooperation environment handling , water management and drainage systems by the Dutch government .
It ituditandai with a meeting between Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini the Minister for Infrastructure and Environment Netherlands , Melanie Shultz van Haegen , accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands for the Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Tjeerd de Zwaan , Friday ( 4/4 ) .
Tri Mayor expressed his desire to have the Dutch technology equipment to dredge and suck up trash and sedimentation of waterways and rivers in Surabaya .
" I also want to ask for help for the equipment , if there is a tool in the Netherlands ngeruk once placed a sand , mud was in it , so like a boat like that , but it's also a tool ngeruk so . So later mindahnya it into the river so , " he said .
The issue of flooding in the Tri Rismaharini , also influenced the arrangement of the port system in the city of Surabaya . During the development of the port became the largest contributor to ponding or flooding in some areas , while the government of Surabaya , said Risma , does not have the authority to regulate the port layout .
"In the Netherlands it was easier because the port was under the ( control ) City . So it has the port of Rotterdam in Rotterdam was yes . Minister for Infrastructure and Environment Netherlands , Melanie Shultz van Haegen said it has a lot of experience managing water especially with regard to flooding and water clean , considering most of the territory of the Netherlands is under sea level .
" There are a lot of techniques , depending on the water issue . It could be an existing technique to clean the water for the better , also techniques to bring water to areas that require special water from the water source , " he said .VOA
