Security Council of the United Nations ( UN Security Council ) plans to hold an emergency meeting , the Ukrainian crisis , on Sunday ( Monday GMT) after Kiev launched a military operation following the actions of pro - Russian forces seized several government buildings in the eastern region .
Nigerian Ambassador Joy Ogwu , whose country gets a turn to lead the Council , invited 15 members to the general meeting at 08.00 or at 01.00 GMT , it was reported .
The meeting was originally referred to as " informal discussions " to be performed in an enclosed place .
It is the 10th meeting of the UN Security Council on the crisis since Ukraine 's pro-Western leaders increase their power in Kiev in February to address the bloody protests against the old regime 's decision rejecting the alliance and the European Union turned into Mowkow .
A Western diplomat said the meeting was requested by Russia to Ukraine in case the declaration against anti - terrorism operation because it can threaten peace and security .
