. Upheaval in southern Thailand , Challenges for Bangkok

In Thailand's restive south , a series of bomb attacks blamed on rebels has killed one person and injured over 20 others , Sunday ( 6/4 ) .

 Various attacks by insurgents in southern Thailand was a challenge for the government of Thailand which is in political deadlock and the new Thai military commanders in the region .

Security officials and Thai police are analyzing images of suspected insurgents from the local CCTV cameras recorded before a series of attacks in Yala trading city , on the southern border of Thailand .

The powerful bombs , including vehicle containing 100 kilograms of explosives , Sunday ( 6/4 ) and Monday sparked a fire in the central business district of Yala - about 1,000 kilometers south of Bangkok .

Targeted include a main distribution warehouse of household goods . It was the first major attack since the authorities impose tighter security measures after a wave of bombings two years ago that killed up to 10 people and wounding many others .

Noppong Theerawaon , head of the chamber of commerce Yala , said the attack was apparently aimed at weakening local economy and sparked fears Thailand ahead of a national holiday .

Noppong said , attacks the afternoon it was the most severe in 10 years , where losses reach up to six million dollars because a lot of stores , buildings and a furniture factory flames .

Border provinces in southern Thailand have increased violence since the uprising that has long churned there flared up again in 2004 after an overhaul of security operations under the administration of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra .

Although predominantly Buddhist Thailand , the provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani in the south dominated by Muslims .

Thai security forces have also been accused of human rights violations and killings without trial .

On Tuesday , Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand sent a deputy prime minister and general of police for talks with security agencies to stop the escalation of violence .

Efforts peace talks with the coalition under Yingluck government organizations rebels have stalled , partly because of the current political turmoil in Thailand and demonstrations in Bangkok .
