US General: Coalition Will Place 1500 Military Adviser in
Iraq
The Chiefs were going to join the American forces were
already there to train the Iraqi military.
Commander of the US-led coalition that is fighting the
militant group Islamic State (ISIS) has promised to put the 1500 military
advisers in Iraq.
Army Lt. Gen. James Terry said in Kuwait City on Monday
(8/12), the Chiefs were going to join the American forces were already there to
train the Iraqi military.
However, when asked whether he believes that more US
troops are needed in Iraq, Terry said he was satisfied with the number of
troops there now.
The general said, ISIS militants are now in a position to
survive and trying to maintain the parts in Iraq under their control. However,
he said, the group was still able to carry out the attack.
US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who also visited Kuwait
City, said Iraqi forces have gained new momentum in their efforts to reclaim
their territory from the militants.
Air attacks against the US-led ISIS group has helped the
Iraqi army achieve progress in their fight against the extremists. (VOA)
