Meeting to explore the input and recommendations on the development strategy of the world, especially after the Millennium Development Goals or MDGs ended in 2015, was held on Friday (02/01/2013), in Monrovia, capital of Liberia.

The challenge facing the world is outstanding. Nearly one in five of the world's population, or about 1.5 billion people living below the extreme poverty living standards around one U.S. dollar (USD 9600) per day. No less than 824 million people, mostly living in several countries of Africa and Asia, experiencing food scarcity, and 500 million people at risk of hunger and malnutrition.

Although the MDGs since 2000 recorded a lot of progress, among others, in an effort to reduce poverty and improve education, world affairs keep piling up after 2015. About 170 million children under five are suffering from malnutrition. A total of 100 million children do not enjoy basic education. Many died young. Under-five mortality reached 26 000 per day, and around 500,000 maternal deaths per year.

In an effort to deal with complex issues, the 27 important world figures who joined the High Panel Drafting Postgraduate MDGs 2015 (HLP-High Level Panel on Post 2015) met again on Friday in Monrovia. HLP is expected to formulate development programs the world, especially to overcome poverty and hunger post-2015.

The panel formed by Secretary-General of the height of the United Nations Ban Ki-Monn, in July 2012, was co-chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Prime Minister (PM) David Cameron, and the President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. The 24-member panel from among the government, business, and community leaders who have the attention of the global development agenda.

Meeting in Monrovia is the third HLP meeting after the first meeting in New York, September 2012, and the second in London, November 2012. The fourth meeting is planned held in Bali, March 2013. The final recommendation HLP on global development will be submitted to the United Nations, May 2013.

Liberia, HLP meeting locations, is one portrait of extreme poverty. About 85 percent of the four million people an independent country in 1847 were living below the poverty line. With a per capita income of 260 U.S. dollars per year, Liberia lush as a tropical country relatively poor country in the world.

Liberia economic collapse occurred because of social chaos and civil war twice in the decade of the 1980's until 2003. At least 250,000 people were killed. The presence of UN troops is so striking, which reached 15,000 in the whole country, is proof that the country was not yet completely safe.

Yudhoyono's visit as the first head of state of Indonesia trip to Liberia. The second meeting of heads of state, among others to discuss economic cooperation and trade. Yudhoyono specifically expects continued to strengthen peace and security in Liberia.

The President was accompanied by First Lady Mrs. Ani Yudhoyono and Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Minister of Industry M Hidayat, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, Environment Minister Balthasar Kambuaya, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sharif Cicip Sutardjo, State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.
