Bluefin 21 has been estimated to be able to explore the ocean floor for up to 16 hours , after diving for two hours .

The first mission of an unmanned underwater vehicle belonging to the U.S. Navy launched to search for Malaysia Airlines plane at the base of the Indian Ocean , sooner terminated after exceeding the limit depth of 4.5 kilometers .

The vehicles were previously thought to be able to explore the ocean floor for up to 16 hours , after two hours of diving .

" The safety features of the vehicle sending it back to the surface , " according to the Australian agency that coordinates search and rescue operations , Tuesday ( 15/4 ) .

" The data collected for six hours by an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle is currently being extracted and analyzed . "

The launch of Bluefin autonomous underwater vehicle 21 on Monday marked a new phase of flight search on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which enters the sixth week , after missing on March 8 and is assumed to fall thousands of miles from the track with 239 people on board .

The searchers are optimistic that they know the approximate position of the debris Boeing 777 , approximately 550 kilometers northwest of Perth , and move forward on the basis of four acoustic signals that they believe came from the black box flight recorders .

The robotic submarine was launched nearly a week after a search of equipment the last time you hear the sound signals are believed to come from the plane's black box . ( VOA / Reuters )
