The government raised electricity rates for usage above 900 volt amperes (watts). According to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 30 Year 2012 on Electricity Provided by Company (Persero) PT PLN, the new rate applies for the 26 groups of 37 electricity user groups.
"The increase will take place gradually every quarter, through four periods, January-March 2013, April-June 2013, July-September 2013, and the last in October 2013," said the Public Relations of PT PLN (Persero) Generous Uloli, Friday (1 / 2/2013).
According to PLN data, particularly on the use of household, of which about 80 percent are consumers PLN. 1300 VA for use in the period 1 January 2013-31 March 2013 rose 5.44 percent, from Rp 790 to Rp 833 per kWh per kWh. To use 1300 VA at period 1 April 2013-30 June 2013 rose 5.52 percent, from Rp 833 to Rp 879 per kWh per kWh. To use the period 1 July 1300 to September 2013 2013-30, up 5.57 percent, from Rp 879 to Rp 928 per kWh per kWh. As for the period October 1, 2013 rose 5.49 percent, from Rp 928 to Rp 979 per kWh per kWh.
Overall, according to the Benefactor, the new rate applies for the 8 main groups, namely the group of social service rates, domestic rates, business rates, industrial tariffs, rates office and general lighting, traction rates, precipitation rates (bulk), and the service rate special services .
"All of the tariff increase for electricity consumption in each of 900 VA by consumers, while the use of between 450 VA to 900 VA price is fixed," he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commercial Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Service Area Lenteng Supreme Yuni Astuti said the new tariff was started in January 2013. "However, the new bill rate began to be paid by consumers in February 2013, to be exact starting on Monday (04/02/2013) later," he said.
