Campaign Hazardous Cigarette sales decline caused Philip Morris closed the plant in Australia

Tobacco company Philip Morris said it would halt production at the factory cigarette Moorabbin , Australia after sixty years of production .

This plant closures due to a decrease in local sales and export opportunities are limited ..

Approximately 180 people are expected to lose their jobs when production moved to South Korea .
But the Philip Morris said that there were still about 550 people will remain employed at Philip Morris headquarters located in Melbourne Australia .

" This is a very difficult decision , and bad news for all of our employees , " said John Gledhill , one of the Directors of Philip Morris to Australia , New Zealand , and the Pacific Islands , in a statement .
Factors outside the control of

" With exports significantly limited due to government regulations of Australia , Moorabbin plant is significantly underutilized and operate at less than half the current installed capacity , " said Gledhill .

" Unfortunately , factors beyond our control have prevented full use of the facilities , and therefore the plant will be closed . "

In 2012 , Australia became the first country in the world to introduce the " plain cigarette packs " , which prohibits all use of corporate logos and colors . Free cigarette packs must display a health warning .
