Russia accuses Nato Back to Cold War thinking , U.S. Secretary of Energy Should Not Used as a Tool Aggression


Russian Ambassador to NATO Alexander Grushko Wednesday ( 2/4 ) basic instinct accuses NATO of the Cold War has resurfaced .

They claimed not to recognize the efforts of Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine belonged to what they called " illegal and invalid " . They urged Russia to take steps " soon " and again comply with international law

Diplomatic channels between NATO and Moscow remain open .

U.S. Secretary of State , John Kerry on Wednesday ( 2/4 ) said energy should not be used as a " political weapon " or " tool of aggression " .

Secretary of State , John Kerry spoke accompanied foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on the EU energy summit in Brussels , Belgium , and said they were cooperating with Ukraine regarding alternative supplies of natural gas in addition to Russia .

Russia sharply raise the price of natural gas to Ukraine and threatened to demand the return of billions of discounts previously given , increasing the pressure on the Ukrainian government cash difficulties .

Head of the company -owned Russian natural gas giant , Gazprom said the company was canceling discounts in December .

The move is expected to be a severe blow to Ukrainian consumers . Gas prices for households in Ukraine will rise 50 % on May 1.

Discount Russia was part of the financial assistance given President Putin to Ukraine Victor Yanukovich president who is now running away after his decision to cancel the agreement with the EU for the sake of closer ties with Russia .
