English clergyman called Israel mastermind the Sept. 11 attacks in New York

Church of England to investigate a minister who put the article on Facebook contains allegations that Israel is the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks in the US.

Reverend Stephen Sizer, pastor of Christ Church in Virginia Waters, Surrey, allegedly publish a link to an article with the title: "9/11 Israel did it."

He reportedly wrote, "Is it anti-Semitic? This raises a lot of questions."

Diocese of Guildford, where Sizer registered, saying they take "immediate action" to investigate.

A spokesman said: "very distressing and embarrassing" because of this article appeared in the same week as the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

"Our attention is focused on the comments by the Rev. Stephen Sizer on social media. In the comments Reverend Sizer linking an article entitled '9/11 Israel do so," the spokesman said.

BBC religious affairs correspondent, Caroline Wyatt, said Sizer has a history of enmity with the leaders of the Jewish community on a blog post about Israel and Zionism. (BBC)
