General Command of the Army and the Syrian Army says as many as 42 women , children and elderly people killed in a horrific massacre carried out by al - Nusra Jabhet , called terrorists , in Maan village , rural north of Hama on Sunday .
In a statement issued on Monday , the General Command insists that the armed terrorist groups attacked Takfiris Maan village in large numbers by using various forms of weapons . They looted the houses , burn and destroy some of them , and to displace all the inhabitants of the village .
The statement asserts that the criminal act occurred at a time when Syria was exerting tireless efforts to end the suffering of the Syrian people .
General Command stressed that this cowardly terrorist act will not go unpunished , and that the killer will pay dearly for what they do .
The statement concludes by saying that the Armed Forces are now more determined than ever to continue fulfilling its constitutional obligation , to confront the terrorist organization and eliminate them . The armed forces also will restore security and stability to the country , SANA news agency reported .
The war continues to rage in Syria between Assad 's regime forces backed Lebanese group Hezbollah soldiers and Iranian Shia majority against the Sunni insurgent opposition financially and morally supported Saudi Arabia , and jihadists from Chehnya , Russia , Europe , Australia , the U.S. and Indonesia , Pakistan and India .
