Clash kills four in Thailand
Gunfight broke out between Thai police and anti-government protesters in Bangkok on Tuesday , resulting in four deaths and dozens of injuries suffered when the authorities take action to clean up the protesters from the streets .
In the development of the political crisis in Thailand , the country's anti-corruption agency announced it filed charges against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra associated with the rice subsidy program that had burned middle-class opposition to his rule .
The clashes occurred largely as a result of tensions between protesters and security forces since the campaign began to topple Yingluck took place in November . The military , which had said it would intervene if the police could not take control of security in the capital , has not issued a response to the violence.
Witnesses told Reuters they heard gunshots and saw the police opened fire at Phan Fa Bridge area in the old part of the city .
Police said they were attacked by a sniper on a roof -propelled grenades and M - 79 was also used .
A police officer was shot dead and several others wounded by a grenade blast , said a security officer .
Erawan Medical Center , which monitors hospitals , said in a statement posted on its website that three protesters were also killed by gunfire . The center claimed 64 people were injured but did not say how many police personnel daa how many civilians .
