 Separatist Pakistani Militants blow up three gas pipelines


The rebels of the separatist Baluchistan Province , Pakistan , detonate three pipe gas , reducing gas supplies to the most important province in the country .

Balochistan is a resource-rich region .

The rebels blew up the pipeline to the Punjab province overnight , said Ayub Bajwa , emergency managers in charge for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the capital city of Islamabad .

Punjab is the most populous province and power base of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif . Most of the province is not currently flowing gas .

" This is the first time they detonate three pipe simultaneously, " said Bajwa , as reported by Reuters .

" They usually just blow up the ( pipe ) here or there , " he said .

Channels such large diameter pipes 24 , 18 and 16 inches . It took at least two days to repair the network , said Bajwa .

During that time , millions of Pakistanis will not be able to heat their homes or run their factories .

Sarbaz Baloch , a spokesman for the Baloch Republican Army ( BRA ) , said his group had blown up the pipeline near the Punjabi city of Rahim Yar Khan , about 600 kilometers ( 370 miles ) south of Islamabad .

BRA is fighting for the independence of Balochistan , the largest and poorest province in Pakistan .

They accuse the federal government to loot the resources and the mineral -rich province left the people live in poverty .

Human rights groups have accused the Baluch rebels and government security forces committed serious violations of human rights , including kidnapping , torture and killing of civilians .
