Attack on Military Post in Mali, 5 Killed
The attack happened on Sunday (4/1) night at Nampala, a
town about 530 kilometers northeast of the capital of Mali, Bamako, and near
the border with Mauritania.
An official told VOA that Nampala three Malian soldiers
and two armed men were killed in the fighting.
There are no immediate claim of responsibility, but
suspicion focused on al-Qaeda militants are active in the region.
Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb and allied groups
dominate northern Mali in 2012, before removed by the French-led military
force.
Militants continue to carry out regular attacks on
government targets and international peacekeepers. (VOA)
