Jams delay the release of the former president of Taiwan

Chen Shui-bian was sentenced to 20 years in prison for
money laundering and bribery.
Possibility of liberation former Taiwan president delayed

Former President Chen Shui-bian who was jailed for
corruption, is expected to be granted parole for health reasons on New Year's
Eve.
But the traffic jam holiday period makes a number of

About 300 supporters of Chen, including former deputy
Annette Lu, Taichung Prison gathered outside in the hope she will be released
before the new year.
A number of documents related to the release of Chen has
left the prison to the Ministry of Justice of Taiwan in the afternoon.
Among these are the health board's proposal to free the
former president.
But because of congestion documents arrived at the
ministry a few minutes before 18:00, so that officials do not have time to
consider and decide.
A government spokesman said the exemption request will be
processed promptly on Monday morning, the first day after the New Year holiday.
