The dollar strengthened slightly in quiet trade


 The dollar strengthened slightly against the euro and the yen in the foreign exchange market action is relatively quiet on Tuesday (Wednesday morning GMT ) .

The dollar gained enough support from positive U.S. trade report for November , showed the smallest deficit since September 2009 , AFP reported .

At 23:00 GMT ( Wednesday at 6:00 pm ) euro bought 1.3614 dollars , compared with 1.3629 dollars late Monday.

The dollar rose to 104.69 yen from 104.19 yen , while the euro moving into 142.53 yen from 142.02 yen .

The market showed little reaction to the U.S. Senate on Monday confirmed that decides Janet Yellen became Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke after the retreat at the end of this month .

Currently vice chairman of the Fed Yellen is not expected to deviate much from the central bank's monetary policy has been in place now .

" North American trading session today was warm enough healthy despite the sharp increase in the equity markets which saw the S & P and Dow both rose 0.6 percent , halting a three-day slump , " said Neal Gilbert home GFT Forex .

" The U.S. data proved encouraging as the trade deficit decreased significantly and could prove to be a turning point for the dollar , " he said .

The British pound was almost unchanged at 1.6401 dollars , and the dollar pushed higher into 0.9092 Swiss francs from 0.9038 francs .
