The latest report says smoking can also cause diseases such as liver and colorectal cancer , diabetes , rheumatoid arthritis , and erectile problems .

The new report warns that U.S. health inspectors smoking causes more health problems than previously thought .

The results of the study released on Friday ( 17/1 ) following the 50th anniversary of the historic report of the first health inspector confirmed that smoking causes lung cancer .

Since the 1964 announcement , which caused the start of the anti - smoking movement , the numbers of smokers in the U.S. has dropped from 42 percent to 18 percent rate now .
