IPB developed odot grass on non - productive land

Bogor Institute of Agriculture through the Directorate of Agricultural Policy and Strategic Studies ( KSKP ) through the development of action programs to develop forage Elephant Grass Odot in non-productive land .

" Development of Elephant Grass Odot in non-productive land involves local farmers , so far has developed three models in Bogor Regency located in two villages namely Cileksa and Taman Sari , and Sukabumi Nanggerang village , " said Director of Strategic Studies and Policy IPB , Dr. ir Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat in Cicurug , Sukabumi , West Java , on Saturday.

Dodik explained , of the three models Elephant Grass Odot development in three regions with a total area of about 10 hectares of land .

The model has been constructed using a strategy . First , non- productive land use , based on the initial assessment of IPB , non- productive land area in Bogor district is 9,000 hectares .

Second , using a system of " agroforestry " or intercropping in order to optimize the use of land . The third , involving the community both as providers of land , engineering , cultivation and harvesting .

The fourth , viable business that can be sustained , and the fifth has a market certainty .

" So that does not have problems of marketing , " said Dodik .

Dodik said that , in the Village area for Nanggerang , Cicurug Sukabumi , models developed using non-productive land involving local farmers .

As for the model in Cileksa Village , Elephant Grass cultivation with intercropping Wood Odot Africa . While at Taman Sari planting done for the type of chilli .

He said that , for the model development Odot Elephant Grass , related marketing , this time around the grass resulting from the models that have been built will be supplied to PT Fajar Taurus with shipment volume of about 5 tons per day .

Dodik describes , grasses odot development model in the beginning of unproductive land related issues in society beef scarcity faced by Indonesia .
