Five crew ( ABK ) Indonesian killed in South Korea , after jumping from a fishing vessel


Six people died after jumping from a South Korean fishing boat that burned near the island of Jeju , South Korea , Monday ( 24 / 03 ) .

Five Indonesian citizen and a citizen of South Korea declared killed by hyperthermia .

They jumped into the cold sea water to escape from a fire that struck the vessel weighing 38 tonnes , said a spokesman for the local coast guard .

Two crew members were rescued and rescuers are still trying to find a crew from South Korea , said the spokesman.

Aircraft and patrol boats have been deployed to the scene to search for the missing crew were still aboard to help the other fishermen .

The fateful ship carrying nine crew and sank about two hours and 20 minutes after the fire.
Police are still investigating the cause of the fire .

A coast guard explained , the ship departed from the port of Jeju on Friday ( 21 / 03 ) and plan to return on April 5 , 2014.BBC
