Syrian Sunni Muslim fighters and Shiite Hezbollah soldiers clash in Syria-Lebanon Border

Officials in eastern Lebanon said violence erupted on Sunday after Syrian Sunni Islamist militants trying to infiltrate into Lebanon and clashed with Hezbollah fighters.


Lebanese officials and organizations Syrian activists say violent clashes in the Syrian-Lebanese border, killing several people, including a number of Hezbollah fighters.

Syrian troops backed Hezbollah militants since the November launch an attack in the mountainous region Qalamoun in Syria, trying to clear the area of insurgents.

Officials in eastern Lebanon said violence erupted on Sunday after Syrian rebels trying to infiltrate into Lebanon and clashed with Hezbollah fighters. The officials declined to provide information without their names, according to the rules.

They say the fighting, which occurred near the village of Youneen, Lebanon, ending Monday morning after Hezbollah dominate the hills nearby. Several militants were killed.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights based in Britain said casualties on both sides.
