Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung symbolically handed over to the Government of the Philippines to ease the burden of people affected by the typhoon Bopha, Saturday (29/12/2012). Court also briefly review the disaster site in the south.

Submission is symbolic of two sacks of rice and a tarpaulin to the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Vilma Cabrera. The event was held at the office of DSWD XI region followed by dozens of volunteers from the two countries.

The assistance provided by the Government of Indonesia is 2,000 tons of rice from Bulog North Sulawesi, 1,700 blankets, tarpaulin sheets and 2450. These items was on his way and expected to arrive before the new year.

"We have sent the funds of 1 million U.S. dollars were given before," said Agung.

Cabrera thanked the Government of Indonesia's concern ease the burden of people affected by the typhoon Bopha. Rice estimated they received divisible in a week. "There are 204,000 families affected by the typhoon, or about 1 million people," said Cabrera.

Currently, there are about 1,000 people died because of the typhoon. In addition, there are tens of thousands of housing units are in ruins.

Laksono come together with the Governor of North Sulawesi, Sinyo Sarundajang Harry and entourage Indonesian Red Cross and National Disaster Management Agency. The visit was only a day and they are scheduled to return to Indonesia this afternoon.
