President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union Said Iqbal said labor costs in Indonesia are still the lowest in Asia. Even minimum wage in Indonesia is still inferior to the Philippines.
"National Wages Rp 2.2 million, but it still exists in the area of the rp 1.5 million. Wage we still lag behind other countries," said President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union (KSPI) Said Iqbal at a press conference in Gren Alia Cikini Jakarta, Thursday (12/27/2012).
Based on the record Said, the average wages of workers in Thailand has reached 300 million U.S. dollars, or Rp 2.7 million. While the Philippines was rp 2.5 to 2.6 million per month.
Under these conditions, it asked for wage increases of 100 percent in stages until 2015. The details will be in the amount of 30 percent per year. "The calculation of wage increase was adjusted for inflation, economic growth, the calculation of the minimum wage increase and kemjuan technology," he added.
If there is an increase of 30 percent per year, so it expects no minimum wage workers Rp 3 million per month in 2015.
"For the wages now, we are difficult to save. If it's already at least we can save money and the rest would be spent. Later impact will also boost the economy," he added.
