Dollar rose 40 points today. Bank Indonesia middle rate notes, today's exchange rate of Rp 9640 per U.S. dollar. Yesterday, the exchange rate of Rp 9680 per U.S. dollar.

Economist at Bank Mandiri, Destry Damayanti, noting that the strengthening of this new case, allegedly due to an agreement with Bank Indonesia and the Ministry of SOEs.

"It is likely related to Bank Indonesia policy prohibiting PLN and Pertamina access to foreign exchange in financial markets," said Destry in Jakarta, Tuesday (01/22/2013).

Last weekend, the exchange rate of Rp 9685 per U.S. dollar, even at Rp 9690 per U.S. dollar on 16 and 17 January 2013.

Last week, Bank Indonesia and the state claimed, PT Pertamina and PT PLN prohibited from buying U.S. dollars in the money market. U.S. dollar needs to be presented to the three state-owned banks, namely Bank Mandiri, BNI and BRI. Then, the three banks are required to obtain U.S. dollars Pertamina and PLN supply of Bank Indonesia.

Thus, there is no effort to find dollars in the money market. With the need Pertamina and PLN can third the daily requirement dollars in the money market, this step is significant.
