Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta alerted 200 people volunteer to help residents cope with floods, said Head of Disaster Management Division of PMI NHQ, Arifin Muh Hadi.





Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta alerted 200 people volunteer to help residents cope with floods, said Head of Disaster Management Division of PMI NHQ, Arifin Muh Hadi.

"Since it was raining at 1:00 pm, immediately alerting PMI Jakarta PMI volunteers at district and city in flood-prone spot to assist displaced people," said Arifin Muh Hadi through a press statement received on Tuesday.

The volunteers consisted of voluntary Corps (KSR), Community Based Disaster Preparedness (Sibat), staff, and administrators in flood-prone spot.

He said the Red Cross responds to floods in West Jakarta by lowering volunteers and Sibat for evacuation, setting up tents and prepare a soup kitchen for lunch for 1,300 people in the Village of Crocodile Swamp.

West Jakarta PMI also works with Cengkareng health centers to provide health services to the displaced people in the region of Crocodile Swamp.

Meanwhile, Central Jakarta PMI alert 40 volunteers and 12 personnel assigned to flood and set up a public kitchen in the District Post Petamburan.

South Jakarta PMI opened the health service, public kitchen, in the subdistrict of Cilandak, Tevet, Jewel, Market Week and Bukit Duri.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta PMI alert 40 volunteers prepare to serve dinner to as many as 2,000 refugees in the region serving the Village Kampung Melayu, Bidara Cawang and China.

Jakarta PMI has also set up 10 boats in five PMI to anticipate subsequent flooding caused by heavy rainfall in flood-prone areas to help evacuate residents.
