Ministry of Industry, together with the Ministry of Agriculture began talks more about the procurement of approximately 300,000 acres of land as a revitalization of the sugar industry.




"In order to self sufficiency that has been hampered over the past two years, we need about 300,000 hectares of land currently trying realized," Industry Minister MS Hidayat said at his office here on Friday.

Land area of ​​300,000 hectares were submitted to the National Land Agency (BPN), the plan consists of 18 sites that are entirely outside of Java, namely Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and Papua.

"Per location is approximately 20,000 acres of land with a nucleus that plasma surrounding communities can get involved," said Minister of Industry.

Although this is a true sugar Kementan task, but specific revitalization efforts, the Ministry of Industry together with the National Land Agency (BPN) is also included because it was assessed as having relation to one another.

Industry Minister optimistic, coordinated restructuring of the sugar industry in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture and BPN can be realized well.

In the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Rusman Heriawan hope restructuring the sugar industry could be completed before 2014 because of the strategic role to achieve self-sufficiency.

"It's really convenient, we can revitalize the sugar factory. The land requirement of approximately 300,000 hectares, we can achieve self-sufficiency," he said.

Wamentan self sufficiency also revealed that the government is expected not only to meet consumption needs, but also the industry in the form of refined sugar.
