Coalition for Human Rights, which consists of a number of NGO human rights activists will soon write to Commission III. The letter contains about trimming their term of office of the chairman of Komnas HAM 2.5 years to one year. Nine of the thirteen commissioners of the National Commission on Human Rights established the House of Representatives Commission III chairman agreed to cut the term of office of Komnas HAM.

"We will write to the Parliament including pansel team because they are processing it. They are frying it (13 commissioner of Komnas HAM)," Contrast coordinator Haris Azhar said in a press conference at his office on Saturday (01/12/2012).

According to Haris, the House is the party most responsible for the policy of Komnas HAM commissioner. Because the policy changes Komnas HAM chairman tenure occurred shortly after the Commission elected commissioners. He said the House should call the National Human Rights Commission.

Parliament, he said, the Commission urged the authorities revoke the decision. "For us, the rules shall be revoked or canceled. If they do not cancel, there are many civil movements that hinder their coming to it," he said.

Haris said the move was the first step that the Commission revoke its decision. The movement, he explained, can be shaped hearings, press releases, demonstrations, and so on.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Imparsial, Poengky Indarti, said the Commission should focus on resolving the agenda human rights violations that occurred in the past and present. It was intended to allow the Commission to execute its mandate to promote and protect human rights.

"Over the last three leadership, the Commission ignored the government," quipped Poengky.

Earlier, Commission III of the House of Representatives chose 13 names by voting. They are Sandrayati Moniaga, Maneger Nasution, Natalius Pigai, Otto Nur Abdullah, Ansori Sinungan, Muhammad Nurkhoiron, M. Indadun Rahmat, Siane Indriani, Roichatul Aswidah, Hafid Abbas, Siti Noor Laila, Dianto Bachriadi and Nur Kholis.

In the meantime, the parties agreed to cut the term of office of Komnas HAM chairman Nurcholis, Hafid Abbas, Dianto Bachriadi, Natalius Pigai, Siti Nor Laila, Sianne Indriani, Imdadun Rahmat, Meneger Nasution, Ansori Sinungan. They are also called the Nine.
