In an interview conducted by the Straits Times newspaper, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia is ready to lead the President non-Java. The success Ahok elected Vice DKI is a big improvement.
JK aware Ahok limited victory in Jakarta and of course it takes time for all the people of Indonesia to truly prepared the president led a non-Java. However, JK still voiced keoptimistisannya.
"I believe only about 30 percent of Indonesia's population really think that the President should be derived from the Javanese," said JK.
JK also tells about her family background where she came from Padang and 3 children married to the Javanese. "The most important thing we are all Indonesian people are united," added JK.
Interviews were conducted on the sidelines of JK visit to Singapore on Thursday (01/10/2013). JK was invited as a keynote speaker annual forum Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in which he was asked to submit views on the regional conditions of Southeast Asia.
Asked whether going forward or not to Election 2014, JK replied diplomatically. "I was not eyeing the presidency, the main thing is how I continue to participate to create a much better Indonesia".
But JK added the presidency will certainly help him to carry out the vision and mission. "I'm always ready if people need me, we'll see political developments in the months ahead."
Asked about the age will reach 72 next year, JK confirmed that age is not the issue, the most important is character, track record and accomplishments. JK also met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The meeting they discussed the developments in Indonesia.
