The number of passenger sea transport in the country in November 2012 recorded 566.4 thousand, up 0.64 percent from the previous month.

An increasing number of passenger sea transport occurs at Tanjung Perak which rose 19.24 percent. By contrast, in the Port of Belawan, Makassar, Balikpapan, and Tanjung Priok down 67.74 pe rsen, 38.89 percent, 16.49 percent and 4.17 percent.

During January-November 2012, the number of passengers in domestic sea freight reached 6.3 million people, down 9.98 percent from the same period in 2011.

Decrease in the number of passengers going in the Port of Tanjung Perak, Tanjung Priok, and Belawan which is down 12.94 percent, 10.19 percent and 5.19 percent. In contrast, the number of passengers at the Port of Makassar and Balikpapan rose 11.19 percent and 5.38 percent.

Meanwhile, the amount of goods transported in November 2012 reached 16.6 million tons, up 1.45 percent from the previous month. Increasing the amount of goods transported happening in Port Balikpapan, Makassar, and the length is up 8.90 percent, 8.72 percent and 1.23 percent.

By contrast, in the Port of Tanjung Priok and Tanjung Perak fell 10.47 percent and 0.32 percent. The amount of goods transported during January-November 2012 reached 192.7 million tons, up 12.02 percent over the same period in 2011.

"Increasing the amount of goods transported happening at the Port of Tanjung Perak, Makassar, Length, Balikpapan, and Tanjung Priok which rose 36.26 percent, 21.66 percent, 13.85 percent, 11.82 percent and 9.90 percent," Head of the Central Statistics Agency said Suryamin, in Jakarta, Wednesday (02/01/2013)
