State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan admitted that Indonesia would be able to compete with the world, particularly developed countries, to produce electric cars. Therefore, the technology used is also not inferior to foreigners.

"The issue of electric cars, we can compete with Japan, Europe, and the United States," Dahlan said when met at the launch of Ferrari cars at the PSSI office in Senayan, Sunday (12/23/2012).

According to Dahlan, the electric car technology that was driven by engineers of the country is also not compete with foreign engineers. Dahlan pointed out electric cars with models like style Tucuxi Ferrari is only assembled at a workshop in Yogyakarta.

Dahlan said that the creator of the design is Suryatama Danet. Engineering graduates November Surabaya Institute of Technology with a doctorate from Michigan, USA, has over 10 years as engineer in the U.S. auto plant.

Dahlan assess Indonesia will not be able to compete with foreign automakers alike wore fuel consumption. As for electric cars, each country in the world is currently developing similar projects. This car will be used as an alternative vehicle to be able to reduce the consumption of fuel in the world.

Just for the record, electric cars Ferrari owned by Dahlan Iskan was designed by Danet and artisans from Yogyakarta, namely Kunto Wibisono. Currently, about 50 percent of the components of the electric car is still imported, especially from the battery, motor, and some small spare parts that can not be made in Indonesia. However, the minister assured that the motor and battery electric cars can be made in Indonesia.

Dahlan Iskan himself has appointed PT Nipress Tbk in Cullinan, Bogor, West Java, to make the battery type lithium phosphate forre. Hopefully, Nipress can produce the lithium batteries in May 2013. With some spare parts that can be produced in Indonesia, the price of electric cars will be suppressed.
