State School of India Allow their students Wear Hijab

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDIA - Some schools in the state of
Kerala, South India recently has issued a policy to allow stu- wear the hijab
since the first grade.
The policy was issued several demands following school
parents allowed their children to Muslim girls wearing headscarves is
obligatory in Islam.
"Due to the high demand of Muslim parents that their
daughters allowed to wear the veil of Class I, then our management agree,"
said the head of one of the Viswadeepti Vidyalaya Public School in Aluva
OnIslamNet quoted as saying on Sunday (24/8).
Previously, the imposition of the veil in state schools
are only allowed for students who sit in fifth grade. In addition to the
request, the policy was issued because of the increasing introduction of
Islamic studies from the Koran classes and new regulations on the Friday prayer
for private schools.
Policies are also suspected to attract Muslim students go
to private schools.
Therefore, some of the schools concerned the parents are
reluctant to send their children to schools that prohibit the imposition of the
veil since childhood.
"We have been given permission to wear the hijab
since the base class.
However, we are conditioning they can only wear white or
black headscarves," said Chief Toc H Public School in Vyttila NM George.
Even so, there are also schools that still persists
prohibit the use of the headscarf at an early age. Most of these schools
reveals policy since the imposition of the veil base class does not allow the
method used several schools. So, there are still schools that allow stu- veiled
in grade five.
"There are some parents who protest but we have said
up to Class III we follow the Montessori method in which we encourage students
to wear casual clothes and not fair to ask them to wear the hijab," said
school principal MES International School in Pattambi Asha Byju.
