Agriculture Minister Suswono said the use of some land state own company of forest (Perhutanioffice) can help increase soybean production in the country.
"We can take advantage of several opportunities to increase soybean production one that is working together with forestry," Suswono said after a coordination meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Thursday.
Suswono said most of the land owned by Perhutani still possible to be used as an area of land such as soybean production in Banyuwangi and Jember.
"The potential of soybean production even up to 1.7 tonnes per hectare," said Suswono.
Suswono noted, currently Perhutani land area of Java that is 1.6 million hectares, and if utilized 20 percent of its land area alone is very help increase soybean production.
"Covering an area of 300 thousand hectares mustinya if it could fit, but half of it or 150 thousand that was very helpful our soybean production," said Suswono.
Suswono also mentioned land in other areas can also be utilized for the expansion of soybean production fields.
"If we see the potential of the land is still possible for the expansion of soybean acreage was for example in Aceh and six other provinces. They had agreed to the task," said Suswono.
In addition, the government will also prepare soybean seeds for farmers. Seedlings were prepared in the country to achieve the target of soybean production in 2013 by 1.5 million tons.
"From R & D through the state, as well as by seed breeding that farmers of seed sources and scatter seeds so farmers will be involved in it," said Suswono.
