President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed to increase investments in various fields in Indonesia.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed to increase investments in various fields in Indonesia. The deal was revealed in the second bilateral meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (18/01/2013).

President Yudhoyono said the Indonesia-Japan cooperation at a strategic level is initiated when the first period of Japanese PM Abe became Prime Minister in 2007. At that time, many things have been achieved.

Once launched Masterplan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI), he said, has done a variety of meeting representatives of the two countries. In the meeting, added the President, Prime Minister Abe is committed to increasing investment in transportation, infrastructure, energy, industry, agriculture, and others.

"Let's give a chance to our Japanese partners to work with Indonesia to take part of the company MP3EI. So, not only commitment, but it has been a plan for Japanese investment in time will come," he said during a press conference after the meeting.

To Prime Minister Abe, the president acknowledged there are still many problems in the cooperation between the two countries. However, according to the President, in the spirit of increasing strategic cooperation there must be a good solution for both countries.

"There were problems. Realizing there was huge interest together, then all problems would work out. I am optimistic that there is no problem that can not be resolved," he said.

In a statement, Prime Minister Abe expressed his sympathy over the floods that occurred in some parts of Jakarta and surrounding cities. He promised that the Japanese government will assist in the recovery process.

Abe is said, in addition to Indonesia, it is also committed to increasing cooperation with other countries in Southeast Asia. "Japan hopes the people of Indonesia and other Asean countries to support the foreign policy of Japan," Abe said.
