Activists Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) states rejected plans to build a six-lane toll road in the city
Activists Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) states rejected plans to build a six-lane toll road in the city that have been initiated since the leadership of former governor Sutiyoso. DTKJ Chairman Azas Tigor Nainggolan said the project is tantamount to arouse public interest in a private driving in urban areas.
The principle said he was happy because of the attitude of the pro Jokowi mass transportation rather than the construction of a six-lane highway. "Hence, the governor said he had put forward the development of public transport in Jakarta than to build a six-lane toll road in Jakarta," said Tigor at City Hall Jakarta, Friday (28/12/2012).
Tigor even boasted that during his meeting with Jokowi is planning to send a letter to the cancellation of six toll road projects to the Ministry of Public Works.
"We had a discussion a plan to send a letter to the Ministry of Public Works to cancel the construction of six-lane toll road in Jakarta," he said.
Tigor also believes that the project has been rejected by Jokowi. Regarding the project cancellation letter to the Ministry of Public Works, said Tigor, has also been discussed with the Department of Transportation Administration.
"He (Jokowi) has firmly rejected (six-lane toll road) and put forward the development of public transport. Just last week the Minister of Public Works says Jokowi not send rejection letters. Anyway Gini, in the near future governor will send a letter to the Minister of Public Works to reject the six-lane highway, "he said.
According to him, spatial Jakarta is already very bad and if built six-lane highway will add urban ruin. Second, in the transport sector construction traffic six toll roads will only be red carpet for private vehicles.
"According to the Department of Transportation, the total number of walkers that led to Jakarta every day to reach 25 million and 98 percent use personal data," said Tigor.
Third, in terms of the environment, development will lead to environmental pollution. Furthermore, the project will also trigger morbidity especially Jakarta residents breathing or Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI).
"And also very strong rejection of the various parties and have collected thousands of petitions online," he said.
