China build canal connecting the Atlantic and Pacific

Officials HKND Group, Zhu Xiaoya, give an explanation about the new canal in Nicaragua.

Construction of a new canal that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans has started in Brito, Nicaragua, Monday (22/12).

While giving a speech at the opening ceremony, the president of the Chinese company that built the canal, HKND Group, Wang Jing said that this channel will be included in history.

Canal with a length of more than 200 kilometers will be deeper and wider than the Panama Canal.

This channel is estimated to be ready to operate in the next five years and its construction will cost about US $ 50 billion.

Government of Nicaragua said the project would lift them out of poverty.
But those who do not agree with the construction of this canal said the cruise line is damaging the environment while the economic benefit of doubt.


Thousands of the land affected by the project also staged protests in recent months, with the claim that they get compensation that is not in accordance with the market price. (BBC)
