He said, based on the number of poor people in Papua in September 2012 increased by 9.8 thousand people than poor people in March 2012, amounting to 966.59 thousand.
"Judging by type of region, poverty is concentrated in rural areas, where in September 2012 there were 928.29 thousand people (39.39 percent) of the poor live in rural areas while in urban areas amounted to only 48.08 thousand (5.81 percent ), "he said.
Suntono explained, based on the results of the survey for thirteen years (1999-2012) the welfare of the people of Papua conditions getting better. Recorded the percentage of poor people in the period decreased significantly by 23.51 percent, from 54.75 percent in March 1999 to 30.66 in September 2012.
