Strong winds and heavy rain are still potentially happen in Indonesia for up to four days. Both are effects of a tropical cyclone today Narelle who are 80-90 kilometers south of Bali.
The Center for Public Meteorology Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) Mulyono Prabowo said the tropical cyclone continues to strengthen Narelle now so its impact is still felt in Indonesia.
"Tropical cyclone Narelle survive up to 3-4 days. Extinction after reaching the mainland could happen next week," he said when contacted Mulyono Kompas.com, Friday (01/11/2013).
Three Prospects Daily weather BMKG issued today said they worried about the impact of tropical cyclones Narelle until January 14, 2013. Strong winds can speed 20-30 kilometers (km) per hour, sometimes reaching 40 miles per hour.
Low pressure in the Pacific north of North Maluku and South China Sea north of West Kalimantan and the meeting place of the Java Sea breeze to enhance NTT increased formation of rain clouds in some areas.
The areas potentially heavy rains accompanied by strong winds such as Greater Jakarta, West Java and the southern part of central Java, the eastern and southern, northern East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi.
Mulyono said the tropical cyclone peak usually occurs in mid-year and end of year to early next year. Both will give effect to the territory of Indonesia.
"Usually there are two tropical cyclones in January. BMKG kept aware of the next tropical cyclone," said Mulyono.
