Information obtained from the Meteorology and Geophysics through Twitter account @ infoBMKG said the epicenter was at 77 km southwest of Aceh Jaya district with a depth of 65 km.

Until this news was revealed, there is no information about building damage or casualties from the earthquake.

Previously, the Simeulue Regency, Aceh Province was hit by an earthquake with a strength of 5.8 on the Richter scale on Thursday at 4:04 pm.

Head of Information Services and Data BMKG Region I Field, Hendra Suwarta in Medan on Thursday told Reuters said the quake was centered at 0.58 degrees north latitude and 92.05 degrees longitude timut.
