Social Affairs Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri said  basic needs for emergency response floods that hit the capital Jakarta was prepared.



"There was a flood or not we've got a buffer stock. To Jakarta we understand flooding this time is quite overwhelming," said the Minister on the sidelines of his working visit in Sukoharjo Central Java, on Thursday (17/01/2013).

The Minister assured the flood can be handled properly by all relevant ministries, civil society organizations and all parties to intervene to deal with the effects of flooding.

"Jakarta's flood disaster is all the Ministry's handle. Not only the Ministry of Social Affairs are addressing a common kitchen, but the Ministry of Health for health care go down, as well as the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of the other," said the Minister.

Earlier, Director of Social Protection Victims of Natural Disasters, Kemsos, Margowiyono, said the Jakarta Government has requested additional buffer stock of rice to secure to face floods.

Floods that hit some point in the Jakarta area in a few days causing rice stock is running low. Ministry of Social Affairs has been given extra rice as much as 50 tons.
