Advisor to the President of Yemen escapes assassination attempt

The Yemeni government on Sunday said there had been an assassination attempt on the country's presidential adviser , the latest in a wave of bombings and shootings .

A sniper opened fire with a gun equipped with a silencer on Saturday at Yassin Said Noman car as he drove through the capital Sanaa , the official Saba news agency said .

Noman is also vice president of the Yemeni National Dialogue .

The bullet did not hit Noman as the armored vehicle , said Saba .

Meanwhile, two Yemeni officers killed Sunday in separate attacks , a security official and defense ministry website .

In the first attack , unidentified gunmen riding a car shot dead the head of security at the presidential palace in Yemen 's second largest city , Taez , the official said .

The officer was killed on the road in the attack , which took place when he was going to work, the official said without elaborating .
