Hong Kong shares fell 0.76 percent


Hong Kong shares fell 0.76 percent

Shares in Hong Kong closed 0.76 percent lower on Wednesday following losses on Wall Street, as traders increasingly uneasy about the possibility of a reduction in the Federal Reserve's stimulus program early.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 181.77 points to 23,728.70 on turnover of 67.27 billion Hong Kong dollars (8.68 billion U.S. dollars).

While China shares closed up 1.31 percent driven hunt for bargains, after losses earlier this week triggered by concerns stock abundance because the government plans to continue with its initial public offering (IPO) in the new year.

Shanghai Composite Index (Shanghai Composite Index) rose 29.09 points to 2251.76 on turnover of 135.5 billion yuan (22.2 billion U.S. dollars), AFP reported.
