Indonesia will raise the issue of the East China Sea in Japan
The Indonesian government will raise the issue of the East China Sea at a summit between the leaders of the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ) and Japan in Tokyo on the weekend .
" The political situation in East Asia is currently quite stressful , if the first ... attention to the South China Sea region , it is now the tension rose sharply , flash point ... the East China Sea , " said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Halim Airport , Thursday , before leaving for Tokyo .
According to him , Indonesia will convey the views of the East China Sea issue at the meeting and invited regional leaders to maintain peace and stability so that the economy can continue to grow the region .
Since Beijing announced the Air Defense Identification Zone in the sea on 23 November 2013 , tensions in the region increased , especially in the disputed waters of the islands .
The Japanese government has made a commitment to not compromise concerning sovereignty over the islands .
ASEAN - Japan
President Yudhoyono and the Indonesian delegation will attend a summit of the 40th anniversary of ASEAN - Japan cooperation among which will discuss various areas of cooperation , including the implementation of the ASEAN - Japan Strategic Economic Cooperation Roadmap ( 2012-2022 ) to support the realization of the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015.
The President will also have a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries .
In addition , while in Tokyo the President is scheduled to give a public lecture on regional security architecture in Kensei Kinen Kaikan .
