Gerlyawan Kurdistan Workers' Party ( PKK ) kidnapped four Turkish soldiers on patrol in the southeastern region of the province , Diyarbakir on Sunday , Turkish media reported .
Unclear why the soldiers were kidnapped , but the high tensions in the region since two people were killed Friday during clashes between police and protesters in the town adjacent Yuksekova .
Local media said hundreds of people demonstrated against the acts of vandalism committed against members of the PKK funeral . Turkish police fired water cannons and tear gas to disperse protesters .
The incident occurred a few months after the quiet period between the Turkish authorities and the PKK , which declared a ceasefire in March after negotiations with the secret intelligence service .
