. PM Thailand is willing to retreat for peace


Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Monday that he is ready to step down for the sake of peace for his country .

But he rejected the protest leaders demand Suthep Thaugsuban to restore power to the people , saying it has no constitutional basis .

Political turmoil in the country 's white elephant demonstrations escalated after the former leader of the Democratic lawmakers Suthep Thaugsuban allows two days for the prime minister to " hand over " power to the people .

Meanwhile the latest figures from the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand shows the political turmoil of the last two days in the country has killed three people and injured 127 others .

Three people were killed in clashes between supporters and anti-government demonstrators at Ramkhamhaeng University on Saturday night , which also wounded 71 people .

Fifty- six others were injured during a confrontation between police and protesters in several locations in Bangkok on Monday .

Police fired tear gas and water cannon towards protesters who tried to seize places like Government House and the Metropolitan Police Bureau .

Previous Thai government insists on seeking a peaceful solution to the ongoing political crisis in the country , said Deputy Prime Minister Surapong confirms Towichukchaikul Monday .

In a press conference , Surapong urges government officials to go to work , ignoring calls Suthep Thaugsuban protest leaders to stop work nationwide .

Surapong has been assigned to be Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnok to lead the Peace of and Order Administration Center , Xinhua reported .
