Winter storm hit the East Coast , USA

The pattern of winter weather has affected most widespread large East Coast , the U.S. , and may continue to affect the region in the next few days , the National Weather Services said on Monday ( 9/12 ) .
According to the National Weather Services , typhoon which spread from the Great Lakes region to the Central Gulf Coast is expected to move towards the north-east and South-East direction and offshore Canada 's East Coast on Tuesday , resulting in a very cold rain and hail along its path .
Snow also fell in the Great Lakes to New England , while heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the region predicted to form in the Mississippi Valley to the Eastern and Central Gulf Coast , said the official weather forecast .
Weather Service declared a major area of concern is from Virginia to New York , according to Xinhua . Institute of snow was predicted three to five inches fell in the Washington - Baltimore Region on Tuesday , while New York City to face the snow of one to three inches .
Weather affects the movement of people and other people who travel . Regional federal offices in Washington DC delay opening hours to two hours on Monday due to bad weather , and schools throughout the region also open or closed late on Monday .
Across the East Coast , thousands of flights were canceled . More than 3,200 flights were canceled on Sunday ( 8/12 ) and more than 1,300 flights have been canceled again on Monday .
