27 South Asian background related riot police arrested on Sunday night in the area of Little India , Singapore .
Singapore police press release said riot involving about 400 people was triggered by the death of one person as a result of being hit by a bus at the junction of Race Course Road and Hampshire Road .
The victim died in the accident is a 33 -year -old Indian citizens .
Bus driver was injured and hospitalized .
Police said there were five police vehicles and an ambulance were damaged during the riots that broke out around 09:23 pm Sunday night .
Some of the more private vehicles were also damaged , police wrote press releases .
Ng Joo Hee , Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force , said the riot police extinguished within one hour since the news received apparatus .
A total of 300 officers have been deployed to deal with the unrest, Xinhua news agency reported .
Police said 10 personnel injured , seven of them were hospitalized .
" We take this incident very seriously, and we have considered the chaos as riots involving a dangerous weapon . We did not waste time to catch those involved , " said Ng Joo Hee .
Police officials added that none of the shots were fired by police officers during the riots.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean said the Singapore government " will not tolerate such unlawful behavior " .
He asked the people to remain calm and not speculate about the incident .
