Riots occurred in Singapore

 The riots that occurred in the district of Little India , Singapore , Sunday night , allegedly triggered by the death of a foreign worker as a result of getting hit by a bus non - public transportation.

Reuters news agency reported that the mob set fire to vehicles and clashed with police .

The television footage showed masses smashing bus and at least three police vehicles overthrown .

Singapore Police said the riot was triggered fatal traffic collisions .

" Not long after that , riots exploded with about 400 people who destroyed five police vehicles and an ambulance , " the Singapore Police Force in a statement . They also mention that ten policemen were injured .

Reuters writes that Little India on a Sunday usually become congested area .

Many construction workers from Bangladesh and India gathered in the district to spend a holiday .

Riots are rare in Singapore . The state has tough laws against riot with a maximum of seven years imprisonment and caning .

" This incident is a serious matter because it resulted in the injury and damage to public facilities , " said Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Singapore , Teo Chee Hean .

Policy reported that at 01:00 on Monday ( Sunday at 24.00 pm ) the situation is under control .
